1 dead, 8 wounded in shooting at large party in Compton
One man was killed and eight others were wounded in a shooting early Sunday morning in Compton, authorities said.
Gunfire erupted about 1:30 a.m. at a large party in the 900 block of West Victoria Street, a street with several large warehouses and commercial buildings, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Mike Barraza said.
The gunshot victims were taken to a hospital, where an unidentified man was pronounced dead.
The conditions of the eight other victims were not immediately available.
No suspect was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, Barraza said.
Before Sunday’s slaying, 16 people had been killed in Compton during the last 12 months, according to The Times’ Homicide Report database.
