Chula vista police search for man who set his girlfriend’s house on fire
Chula Vista — Police are looking for a 35-year-old man accused of torching his girlfriend’s Chula Vista home after a fight erupted between the two at a San Diego party Saturday night.
Jose Germain Rodriguez-Perez and his girlfriend were at a party in San Diego when they got into a fight and he allegedly hit her, said Chula Vista police Lt. Kenny Hines. Police were called, but Rodriguez-Perez had fled in his girlfriend’s vehicle.

He then went to her house on Monserate Avenue near Inkopah Street in Chula Vista where he is suspected of going inside, waking up his girlfriend’s adult daughter and threatening to burn the house down, Hines said.
She fled as Rodriguez-Perez allegedly doused the home in gasoline and set it on fire. The house was already engulfed in flames by the time officers arrived about 10:20 p.m.
Firefighters put out the blaze, but the home was gutted, Hines said.
The daughter made it out safely, and Rodriguez-Perez was nowhere to be found, Hines said.
