CHP looking for big rig driver in fatal hit-and-run on 60 Freeway
Authorities are looking for the driver of a big rig that fatally struck a motorcyclist on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte on Wednesday night.
The crash occurred about 6:45 p.m. near Peck Road when the motorcyclist fell on the road and then was hit by the big rig, the CHP said.
One witness reported the big rig continued on without stopping. The witness said they were in “shock” at what they saw, according to CHP logs.
A SigAlert was issued after the wreck and several lanes were closed for hours, backing up traffic for miles. All lanes were cleared by 10:35 p.m.
The investigation continues. The identity of the motorcyclist was not immediately available.
