Marijuana grow house in Chino Hills goes up in smoke...and flames
Firefighters discovered nearly 400 marijuana plants in a Chino Hills home when they responded to a blaze on the property, authorities said Tuesday.
Firefighters from Chino Hills called police about 3 p.m. Monday when they found an elaborate, two-story grow house while fighting a fire in the 2100 block of Old Carbon Canyon Road.
The 3,500-square-foot home was empty except for the plants, authorities said.
In all, 394 plants and a “large amount” of processed marijuana were found. Some of the plants burned during the fire, officials said.
Police believe equipment in one of the grow rooms sparked the fire.
