Marine dead with gunshot wound to head at Camp Pendleton shooting range
An enlisted Marine was found dead from a gunshot wound to his head at a marksmanship range at Camp Pendleton early Monday, officials said.
The Marine, from the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, was part of a training exercise in which live ammunition was used, Marine officials said.
The circumstances of the fatal gunshot are under investigation. No cause has been released.
On Tuesday, the Marine was identified as Lance Cpl. Dominic Schraft, 19, of Vienna, Mo. He enlisted in August 2014 and served as a field radio operator.
