Police identify woman stabbed to death in Burbank, arrest man in slaying
Police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman in the 1900 block of Richard Street in Burbank.
A woman found stabbed to death in Burbank earlier this week was identified Wednesday.
Brandi Carrasco, 35, was found dead in the bedroom of a home in the 1900 block of Richard Street on Sunday night. Authorities said she had been staying at the home off and on with acquaintances.
On Tuesday, police arrested Timothy Aguilar Andrade, 28, of Hesperia, in Carrasco’s killing. The day before, police released Brian Thomas Lowe, 49, of Burbank, whom they initially suspected in the slaying.
Andrade is accused of fatally stabbing Carrasco, an acquaintance, in the bedroom.
Police Officer Joshua Kendrick said Lowe, a resident of the home, came under suspicion because he was uncooperative during questioning and offered conflicting statements. But investigators later surmised that Andrade acted alone.
Investigators had identified Andrade as a person of interest before his arrest and had been actively searching for him, Kendrick said. He was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, two days after Carrasco’s body was found.
Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the home, where Carrasco had suffered “multiple lacerations to her upper torso,” Kendrick said.
Andrade’s statements reportedly led detectives to the suspected murder weapon, a knife, which was recovered in Burbank; police declined to say where.
Further details on the cause or time of death were not available. An autopsy is pending.
What motivated the attack is not known. Police said Lowe, Andrade and Carrasco all knew each other.
According to a relative of a neighbor, Lowe and his elderly mother are longtime residents of the single-family home where Carrasco was killed.
The relative, who asked not to be identified, citing safety concerns, said different people were always coming and going from the house.
“My kids are always here playing in front of the house, so it’s very scary,” she said.
