Boy seriously burned when camper explodes in Elk Grove driveway
A 16-year-old Elk Grove boy was seriously injured Thursday when the camper-style trailer he was in exploded, sending debris onto rooftops and across three yards.
The teen’s family told KCRA-TV that he had suffered burns over 30% of his body after the trailer exploded in the 8700 block of Alpine Blue Court in Elk Grove.
Emergency crews who responded to the explosion about 7:30 a.m. found the trailer gutted and the teenager seriously injured, Elk Grove police spokesman Christopher Trim told the TV station.
At least two neighboring homes were damaged by the explosion, Fox 40 reported. Officials with the Cosumnes Fire Department were investigating that the blast was caused by propane. It also wasn’t clear whether the boy was in or outside the trailer at the time.
