Bison attacks man taking photos on Catalina Island
A man was airlifted for medical treatment Wednesday after being attacked by a bison on Catalina Island, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The man’s condition was not immediately known, and few details about the incident were released.
The Catalina Island Conservancy said the man was a contract worker from the American Conservation Experience.
The worker “was injured by a bison while working near Tower Peak, on the isthmus side of the fence,” the group said in a statement, which added that the worker was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
The Orange County Register reported that the victim suffered a punctured lung and had surgery. He was taking photos at the time of the attack.
