L.A. County man fatally shot while celebrating his birthday
A man was shot and killed Friday outside his home while celebrating his 39th birthday, witnesses told the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. in the 2600 block of East 129th Street in unincorporated Willowbrook, authorities said. The victim was standing outside his home with his brother and a cousin when a passing car stopped, several men got out and one of them started shooting at the family.
Deputies found the victim lying in his driveway, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The three male suspects fled the scene in a red four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Corolla. Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call (323) 890-5500 or provide an anonymous tip at (800) 222-8477.
