Big-rig driver taunts officers, leads CHP on chase on 15 Freeway in Barstow
Traffic was stopped on the northbound 15 Freeway in Barstow on Monday morning as a big-rig driver taunted officers during a standoff with law enforcement.
Live TV footage showed the driver stopped on the 15 Freeway flanked by more than a half-dozen law enforcement vehicles just after 9 a.m.
With guns drawn, at least three officers approached the big rig, but the driver continued forward and away from the officers.
Then about 9:30 a.m., four officers advanced parallel to the big rig with their guns and forced open the passenger’s side door.
TV footage showed the officers climbing into the cab of the big rig while another officer smashed open a side window. Moments later, officers pulled out the driver and laid him on the ground.
The man was placed on a stretcher as paramedics tended to him.
