Bicyclist in Carson hit by L.A. sheriff’s patrol car, flies into windshield
A bicyclist was struck and injured by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s patrol car Thursday along a multi-lane roadway in Carson, authorities said.
Soon after 6:30 p.m., the bicyclist was pedaling from a strip mall in the 23500 block of Avalon Boulevard onto an open section of the road when a sheriff’s cruiser heading south struck him, said sheriff’s Lt. Arthur Escamillas.
The bicyclist, described only as a man in his 40s, flew off the bike and onto the windshield of the patrol car, sheriff’s Lt. Jodi Hutak said.
He was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with moderate injuries, Escamillas said. He’s currently listed in stable condition. His identity was not released.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and all roadways near the incident remain open, Escamillas said.
