Argument leads to gunfire, death in Lynwood

A witness told authorities that just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, two men stopped their respective cars in the middle of a Lynwood street and began arguing.

One man pulled out a handgun and shot the other, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the witness told them.

A nearby deputy heard the gunshots and followed the sound to the 12400 block of Bullis Road, where he was flagged down by a witness and directed to the body of a 34-year-old man.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The witness told authorities that the suspect fled in a red sedan.

Of neighborhoods patrolled by the Los Angeles Police Department or the Sheriff’s Department, Lynwood ranks 36th highest of 209 neighborhoods in the number of violent crimes per 10,000 people, according to Mapping L.A.

Over roughly the last six months, there have been 218 violent crimes there.
