As authorities continued to investigate what led to the death of adult entertainment performer Amber Rayne, neighbors expressed grief and shared fond memories.

Rayne, whose real name was Meghan Wren, was 31. She collapsed and died Saturday at her home in the 10000 block of Wealth Avenue in Sun Valley, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but investigators have deferred determining a cause of death until a full toxicology report is completed, coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz said. A toxicology report could take two months, possibly longer.

Director Stormy Daniels told the New York Daily News that Wren loved riding horses. Daniels said she was shocked to hear about Rayne’s death.

“She called and sounded fine. She was going into the stable. Her voice sounded normal,” Daniels said.

In an interview with the industry publication Adult Video News, Daniels added: “She was a really good friend, and one of the best actresses and performers that I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, and I’m just glad that I had the opportunity to work with her and call her a friend.”

Rayne lived in a semi-rural tract on the far northeast edge of the San Fernando Valley on a block marked by horse trailers and large front yards.

Neighbors told the L.A. Daily News that Rayne was a sweet person who was a low-key presence despite her work as an actress.

The Detroit native rose to prominence within the adult film industry after making her debut in 2005, AVN reported. As Amber Rayne, she had nearly 500 credited roles.

Among her notable performances were “The 8th Day” and “Wanted,” and she was named Adult Video News’ Unsung Starlet of the Year in 2009, the publication reported.

Her death brought tributes from performers in the adult entertainment world.
