Amber Rayne: Authorities looking into whether adult film actor died of an overdose
Amber Rayne, an actress and performer who had a decade-long career in the adult film industry, collapsed and died this weekend in a Los Angeles home, authorities said.
Rayne, whose actual name was Meghan Wren, was 31.
Paramedics were called Saturday to the 10000 block of Wealtha Avenue in Sun Valley after the performer collapsed at the home, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
A friend was at the home at the time Wren collapsed. She was pronounced dead about 3:15 p.m., Winter said.
Her death was reported as a possible accident or overdose, Winter said. An autopsy with a full toxicology report is still pending.
The Detroit native rose to prominence within the adult film industry after making her debut in 2005, the industry publication Adult Video News reported. As Amber Rayne, she had nearly 500 credited roles.
Among her notable performances were “The 8th Day” and “Wanted,” and she was named Adult Video News’ Unsung Starlet of the Year in 2009, the publication reported.
Her death brought tributes from performers in the adult entertainment world.
