2 held after confronting traffic officer working Dodgers game
Two people were in custody on suspicion of tagging a traffic officer’s car and trying to assault the officer Thursday evening as he directed cars headed to the Dodgers game.
An adult male was tagging the vehicle when he was confronted by the officer shortly before 7:30 p.m. near Sunset Boulevard and Elysian Park Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The officer, who works for the city Department of Transportation, was then approached by a juvenile male who took a swing at the officer.
“He was able to dodge it,” Sgt. Teresa Anderson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division told the Los Angeles Times.
Television news footage showed the officer’s vehicle with tagger scrawls on its window. No other details were immediately available Thursday night.
