Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near El Centro
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning two miles from El Centro, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:56 a.m. PDT at a depth of 8.7 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 11 miles from Calexico and 11 miles from Brawley.
In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
