Two people were shot and another injured early Sunday at an apartment complex across the street from Cal State Northridge, Los Angeles police said.

A caller reported hearing three shots fired about 8 a.m. at the complex near the intersection of Zelzah Avenue and Lassen Street, said Officer Norma Eisenman, an LAPD spokeswoman.

The caller reported hearing three men fighting at the time, she said.

Three men were transported to local hospitals with injuries, police said. Two had gunshot wounds and were listed in critical but stable condition.

A third person appeared to have suffered some Taser-related injuries, authorities said. He was eventually released from the hospital, police said.

It was not known if the three unidentified men were CSUN students or whether one or more of the men were considered suspects in the incident.

“It’s too soon to determine who the suspects are and who the victims are,” said Lt. Tim Torsney, of the Los Angeles Police Department.

In an unrelated incident, a former Cal State Northridge student was taken into custody on Friday after authorities said he showed up at the campus and began threatening people with a sledgehammer.

CSUN police spokeswoman Christina Villalobos said Saturday that 29-year-old Jesse John Moya was charged with felony vandalism in connection with the scare on campus.

No students were harmed, but a statue of the college’s mascot was attacked.
