Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Weldon
A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning 12 miles from Weldon, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:11 a.m. PDT at a depth of 2.5 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 25 miles from Tehachapi, 29 miles from California City and 35 miles from Arvin.
In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
