Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Westmorland, Calif.
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday morning 16 miles from Westmorland, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor near the Imperial County city occurred at 7 a.m. Pacific time at ground level.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 20 miles from Brawley, Calif., 20 miles from Imperial, Calif., 22 miles from El Centro, Calif., and 222 miles from Phoenix.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
