Reputed gang member convicted in 2008 triple slaying
A man authorities say is a Gardena gang member was found guilty this week of murdering three people and attempting to kill a fourth in a 2008 shooting in Hawthorne.
Luis Erasmo Rivera Garcia, 30, was charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of Jose Farias, 24, his brother Victor Manuel Farias, 25, and Vidal Hernandez Rebolledo, 23, on Aug. 10, 2008, after an argument at a popular cruising event on Imperial Highway and Western Avenue.
Garcia was convicted Thursday of three counts of first-degree murder with a special-circumstance allegation of multiple murders, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

After a trial that lasted nine days, the jury at the Torrance courthouse also convicted Garcia of attempted murder in the shooting and wounding of a fourth man during the incident.
Garcia was also convicted of gang- and gun-related offenses.
He faces life in prison without parole when he is sentenced in January, according to prosecutors.
