Another reason to ride Amtrak
I enjoyed Jane Engle’s article on train riding [“California Train Riders Rival Those of New York, But Why?” Travel Insider, March 27], and I wanted to add my reasons to your list.
My mother lives 450 miles from me. I enjoy riding Amtrak’s San Joaquin so that I may visit her. I travel on this train three or four times a year.
It is a relaxing and easy way to go. I am one of those people who is anxious when driving, and I do not like to do it if I don’t have to. I realize that the trip takes about six hours, but I don’t mind.
I have met many new people on the train, and I even reacquainted myself with one of my former students on one trip.
So, for me, Amtrak is the way to go.
