Tom Brady comes kind of close to endorsing Donald Trump for president

Tom Brady and Donald Trump are good friends. Neither of them have been secretive about that.

But does the most popular guy in New England (Brady) support the ever-divisive candidate for the Republican nomination (Trump) in his quest to become president in 2016?

The New England Patriots quarterback was asked that question Tuesday during a radio interview. His answer was somewhat evasive, but interesting.

“Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends,” Brady said. “That is what I have to say. He’s a good friend of mine. He’s always been so supportive of me ... . I’ve always enjoyed his company.

“I support all my friends in everything they do. I think it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life. You’re going from business, kind of an incredible businessman, and then a TV star, and then getting into politics. It’s a pretty different career path. I think that is pretty remarkable.”

So piecing it all together ... Brady supports all his friends in everything they do. Trump is one of Brady’s friends. So, therefore, Brady supports Trump in everything he does. And since this was in direct response to a question as to whether or not Brady supports Trump as a presidential candidate, the answer would seem to be yes.

Unless, of course, Brady has other friends in the presidential race as well. Then, by his own rule, he would be required to support them, too. One of the hosts asked Brady about that possibility.

“This is really important to you guys, huh?” Brady said.

And that was that. A day later, Brady reportedly cut a news conference short after a reporter asked consecutive questions about his relationship with Trump.

Back in September, Brady said it would be “great” if the abrasive GOP front-runner became president, after reporters noticed a “Make America Great Again” hat displayed in the New England Patriots quarterback’s locker.

But Brady later said said his comment was “taken out of context” and shouldn’t be mistaken for an endorsement.
