Map: Where Muslims (mostly) don’t live

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday called for the United States to impose “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.”

What might that look like?

The U.S. already had one of the smallest Muslim populations in the world in 2010, according to a Pew Research Center study.

This map shows where Muslims made up less than 1% of the population. Countries with larger Muslim populations are shown in black. The United States' population was 0.9% Muslim.
