WestEdge trade show taps home trends from furnishings to grill gear

With fewer than 200 design brands in attendance, this year’s WestEdge Design Fair on Nov. 4-6 promises to be a more intimate version of those enormous trade shows that can overwhelm even the most dedicated design fan.

Located inside the airy Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, the fourth annual event is an opportunity to meet independent designers (Los Angeles furniture maker Bend Goods, Orange County lighting wizards Cerno), to established international manufacturers (B&B Italia and Missoni Home).

The three-day event will span furniture and lighting to kitchen and bath products. Sample the latest Roche Bobois furnishings and grilling gear in the outdoor lounge or move indoors to try — and taste — the latest kitchen trends in the culinary pavilion. If limited production furnishings and accessories are more your thing, stop by “Made Modern,” a showcase of more than 50 independent designers assembled by the design blog Design Milk.

And if that’s not enough, plan to stop by the Santa Monica antique market across the street on your way out on Sunday.
