Need inspiration to remove a thirsty lawn? Tour drought-tolerant gardens on Sunday in L.A.
Wander through gardens composed of low-water plants from South Africa, Australia, the Mediterranean and California during the inaugural Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council Drought Tolerant Garden Tour on Sunday.
Presented by the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council Sustainability Committee, the free self-guided tour of 20 gardens was created in hope it would inspire others to remove their thirsty lawns. It will also serve as an opportunity to talk to homeowners who utilized the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power rebates.
Landscape designers, landscape architects and homeowners will be on hand to discuss the gardens, and the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants will have 18 to 24 California natives on display and literature to share.
Participants can pick-up a map of the participating gardens on Sunday at Harold A. Henry Park, 890 S. Lucerne Blvd.
