This Is Not A Pop-Up series continues in January
Old Soul, the previously announced Jeremy Fox dinner series hosted by This Is Not a Pop-Up, has been canceled, but in its place is a roster of weeklong residencies from various chefs throughout January and beyond.
The dinners take place every Thursday to Sunday at Square One Dining, starting Jan. 17 to 20 with James Trees’ restaurant concept Treehouse. He’s followed by a dinner series from Adam Gertler (Jan. 24 to 27), Bruce Kalman of the Churchill (Jan. 31 to Feb. 3), Tyler Wells of Handsome Coffee (Feb. 7 to 10), and CJ Jacobson (Feb. 14 to 17). New chefs will be added on an ongoing basis. Check the website, www.thisisnotapopup.com.
Trees, formerly of the Michael Mina Group and Fig at the Fairmont Miramar, plans a menu including: uni with brioche, lemon, radish, chives; barley risotto with matsutake, broccoli di cecco and mushroom vinegar; seafood boudin noir; bacon and cheese souffle with black garlic and jalapeno cream; and burnt orange cream with honey, moscato and white chocolate.
“We were really looking forward to continuing Old Soul with Jeremy, but, as is the nature of this business, a last-minute opportunity came up which he felt the need to pursue,” said This Is Not a Pop-Up co-founder Helena Brown in a release.
All dinners are five courses and cost $50 per person, with a vegetarian option. Reservations are available online and by phone at (323) 451-1767. Dinners are BYOB, and wines chosen to complement each dinner can be ordered by calling Domaine LA at (323) 932-0280 (purchased wines will be delivered and waiting at the restaurant).
