Marcus Samuelsson at Post & Beam; Friends Cook at Canele; Paiche updates
Post & Beam: The debonair Ethiopian-Swedish New York chef Marcus Samuelsson, proprietor of the Lenox Avenue restaurant Red Rooster in Harlem, will alight on Govind Armstrong’s Post & Beam in Baldwin Hills for one night only. On Feb. 26. “Red Rooster at Post & Beam: A Taste of Harlem in Baldwin Hills” celebrates Black History Month with dishes such as injera bread and tartare, braised oxtail with fried plantains and crawfish beignets with honey-beet tartar sauce. Canele: In the Friends Cook at Canele dinner series, Amy Seidenwurm of Feral Honey guest chefs at the Atwater Village restaurant on Tuesday. For $36, you get shaved Brussels sprouts salad with dates, toasted walnuts, Stilton and honey vinaigrette; smoky honey-cured slow-roasted salmon with white beans and cavolo nero (the vegetarian option substitutes pasta for salmon); and spicy ginger honey cake with honey gelato. “I’ll be curing the salmon on Sunday morning, smoking it on Sunday night and then we’ll slow roast it on Tuesday,” Seidenwurm says. “It’s kind of an ordeal, but it tastes good when you eat it.” Call for reservations. 3219 Glendale Blvd., (323) 666-7133; www.canele-la.com.
