5 great places to go for craft beer in Hollywood

It’s all too easy to write off the bustling streets around Hollywood Boulevard and the Cahuenga Corridor as nothing but tourist traps and over-hyped clubs, but scattered among the head shops, dirty sidewalks and over-priced parking lots, there are some beacons of the craft beer scene.

Here are five places to get a pint or some bottles of craft beer that are worth finding a parking spot for.

Blue Palms Brewhouse

Not only the best place for a beer in Hollywood, Blue Palms is one of L.A.’s best craft beer outposts. It features 24 rotating taps, an extensive bottle list, and menu full of pub favorites executed with aplomb and style. Owner Brian Lenzo is known for his dedication to craft beer education and advocacy, and he’s built Blue Palms into a can’t-miss destination for beer fans.

Stout

The first in the chain of burger-and-beer joints, the Hollywood outpost of Stout serves decadent burgers and a nicely curated selection of 30 craft brews on tap. Their beer-and-burger pairing suggestions are usually spot-on, and don’t miss the off-menu pretzel.

K & L Wines

There are not a lot of options for bottle shops in Hollywood besides the odd bodega, but there’s a fun selection of craft brews tucked into the back corner of this wine superstore. Intriguing imports share shelf space with local favorites, and the staff is always happy to help with questions, decisions, and special orders.

While not the most adventurous or most complete tap list in Hollywood, Delancey’s beer selection covers the bases for most every taste, and they have some of the best pizza in Hollywood to enjoy with your brew, as well as pastas.

The Oaks Gourmet

The tiny market in the Franklin Hills neighborhood carries a selection of six-packs and larger format craft beer bottles in addition to their oils, vinegars, and other gourmet ingredients. The beer on offer varies, but there is a good mix of approachable favorite craft brews and more hard-to-find bottles.
