Melt It! opens in Pasadena with grilled cheese and fried PB
At the newly opened Melt it! in Pasadena, they’re only concerned with serving one thing: grilled cheese. The casual spot, located near Pasadena City College, serves versions of the classic sandwich, which come in kitschy silver tin buckets.
For the traditionalists, Melt It! makes the Legend ($4) with cheddar and sourdough, and the Brie sandwich with, well, brie and a fig compote on a baguette ($7).

There are also some not-so-traditional variations on the menu. The Cheesiest Mac and Cheese sandwich comes with mac and cheese melted between two slices of grilled white bread ($6) and the Tabasco Melt comes with Tabasco butter, bacon, melted jack cheese and avocado on sourdough ($7).
The menu consists mostly of grilled cheese concoctions, but for dessert, you can order the deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich ($4). Peanut butter and strawberry jelly are slathered onto two pieces of good ol’ fashion white bread. The sandwich is then dipped in tempura batter and dropped into the deep fryer. It’s topped with powdered sugar and served warm. Each bite brought back memories of lunch on the playground, but sweeter!
