Wine of the Week: 2009 Regis Minet Pouilly Fume ‘Vieilles Vignes’
2009 Régis Minet Pouilly Fumé ‘Vieilles Vignes’
This Pouilly Fumé from producer Régis Minet is an outstanding Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc and an outstanding value. A pale gold in color, the lively white has the concentration of old vines with some sweet fruit lurking behind its minerality. It’s a great basic, one that drinks well all year round and never goes out of style.
Bring on the shellfish platter, the shrimp and lobster cocktails, the cherrystone clams on the half shell, the seafood paella, the poached salmon in sorrel sauce.
