Trader Joe’s recalls exploding ginger beer bottles
Trader Joe’s has issued a voluntary recall of its Triple Ginger Brew “due to reports of unopened bottles potentially bursting,” the company said in a news release Tuesday.
The Monrovia-based company claims that the beverage itself doesn’t pose a health risk and that no illnesses or injuries have been reported. However, the bottles are made of glass, and the company did receive inquiries about unopened bottles shattering or bursting.
The bottles subject to recall were purchased between Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 and are stamped with the SKU 51857. The product was distributed to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide and is sold in 25.4 fluid-ounce (750 mL) glass bottles.
According to the release, “all product has been removed from store shelves and destroyed.” Customers who have purchased any of the affected bottles are encouraged to “handle it with care and dispose of it immediately in an outside container.” Trader Joe’s will provide a refund.
