ChocoChicken to open a second location, in Santa Monica
Adam Fleischman, the man behind Umami burger and Roadhouse L.A., has announced plans to debut a second location of his ChocoChicken fried chicken restaurant, in Santa Monica, this fall -- and the first hasn’t even opened yet.
The first ChocoChicken, slated to open downtown by the end of May, will serve a chocolate fried chicken hybrid first developed by chef Keith Previte and film and television producer Sean Robins. It involves steeping chicken in a marinade that includes chocolate, dredging it in a flour and chocolate mixture and seasoning it with a spice rub.
“Since we first announced ChocoChicken, there has been a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity about what we’re doing,” said Fleischman, managing director of AdVantage Restaurant Partners in a statement. “We plan to open ChocoChicken locations in different Los Angeles neighborhoods before we expand nationally.”
ChocoChicken will also serve biscuits, chocolate mashed potatoes, chocolate ketchup, whoopie pies, beer, wine and specialty cocktails.
