Meatball-centric Ball & Chain to open in Hollywood
Elk meatballs are coming to Hollywood. Design and construction firm Spacecraft announced that it will build Ball & Chain, “a beer and meatballery” set to open on Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood.
Owner Marc Kreiner, of the Morrison in Los Feliz, is planning a restaurant featuring gourmet meatballs and complementary dishes along with about 20 craft beers on tap and more than 300 beers by the bottle, which will be incorporated into the design of the space.
Chef Michael Ruiz (Cobras and Matadors) will create the meatballs, which will come in various customizable dishes -- in a slider or salad, a la carte or on a hoagie. Along with more traditional meatballs, variations will include vegan, turducken and elk.
Spacecraft released designer/partner Kristofer Keith’s early renderings, showing a “dark, intimate setting” with a black domed roof covered in tile, long bar and wide plank oak seating.
Spacecraft estimates that Ball & Chain will open in early 2014.
