Don’t throw out those Champagne corks: Enter DWR’s Champagne chair contest
Stop!
When you’re cleaning up all the Champagne corks Wednesday morning, don’t throw them out! Save them.
Why?
So you can enter the DWR Champagne chair contest.
“To enter, create a miniature chair using only the foil, label, cage and cork from no more than two Champagne bottles.” Glue is the only permitted adhesive. You are not allowed to use any additional materials -- including tape or paint. Oh, and the chair cannot be any larger than four inches square.
Ready. Set. Go!
You have until 4 p.m. Jan. 14 to submit your clever entry. That’s basically two weeks. Plenty of time to experiment.
Ten chairs and 10 chairs only will be selected as finalists. And if your chair is lucky enough to be chosen, you’ll have to say goodbye, wish it well, and send it to Design Within Research for judging. At that point the 10 chairs become the property of DWR.
How do you submit your entry? (Your single entry, as only one chair and one submission are allowed per person. Prolific designers will simply have to edit.) By submitting the photo of your design on the DWR website for the contest. Or, even easier, via Instagram using the tag #dwrchampagnechair.
You’ll probably want to check out previous submissions before designing your own (there are some photos on the website) to see what’s possible -- a lot, given the guidelines.
Go to it -- and have fun.
