The 101 is coming: Jonathan Gold’s restaurant list, plus a party
For everyone who’s been waiting patiently, hungrily, for Jonathan Gold’s next 101 — his third — we have happy news. The Los Angeles Times will publish Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants, his definitive guide to Los Angeles area dining, next month.
The ranking of essential L.A. restaurants will publish Nov. 4, on latimes.com and the L.A. Times app, allowing readers to chart their courses using an interactive map and sortable lists. The print edition will be delivered to Times’ Saturday subscribers on Nov. 7.

And in possibly better news, to mark the occasion, Gold will host a 101 launch party at Union Station on the evening of Nov. 4. Union Station’s main concourse will be the setting for the Gold 101 launch party, which will feature both sweet and savory food, craft cocktails and a playlist provided by more than a dozen chefs and restaurants. Tickets are $125, or $101 for Times subscribers, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
