NEW YORK -- The collection: BCBG Max Azria.

The inspiration: Femme fatales and Helmut Newton’s black and white photography.

The look: Boudoir bondage. A mix of chambray work wear pieces (jumpers, jump suits and jackets) and fluid, silk crepe blouses, skirts and dresses with digitized print, tulle and lace panels -- all accessorized with black leather harnesses. Colors included black, white and petal pink.

The scene: A glittering front row of celebs with Estelle, Selena Ebanks and Olympic sprinter Sanya Richards Ross, who was wearing beige crepe trousers, a color-blocked blouse and super-high sandals with what appeared to be white cotton pads on the insides of the straps to keep from blistering her famous feet. Also front and center -- major retailers and editors and peacockish blog stars Bryan Boy and Aimee Song.

The verdict: Mixed. The textural layers of leather, lace and tulle looked overly tricky at times, while some of the work wear pieces had too many pockets, panels and straps. But the skirt lengths (just below the knee) looked fresh.
