Michelle Obama celebrates birthday with a new hairstyle
First Lady Michelle Obama turned 49 on Thursday and celebrated with a new hairstyle, a glamorous sleek pageboy featuring bangs. Mrs. Obama’s office also debuted a new Twitter handle, @FLOTUS, and tweeted a photo of her sporting the ‘do as she met with David Hall, one of eight citizen co-chairs for Monday’s inauguration. Meanwhile, rumor has it that designers including Barbara Tfank, Derek Lam, Narciso Rodriguez, Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors and Marchesa were all asked to provide samples of possible outfits Mrs. Obama might wear during inauguration events. [WWD]
Back to hair: Model Karlie Kloss cut about seven inches off her hair late last year, and the style has already been hailed as 2013’s style of the year. Created by hairstylist Garren Defazio, versions of the cut fall somewhere between jaw and shoulder. The hair is one length, with some layering toward the front, and can be worn with or without bangs.
