TEDxManhattan’s ‘Changing the Way We Eat’ live stream
Whether local or regional, in an urban or rural setting, our food system -- made up of the production, distribution and consumption of food and waste management -- affects what and the way we eat. On Feb. 16, TEDxManhattan will be rounding up a multi-disciplinary group of professionals with backgrounds in food and farming to address the way we eat and the social, ecological and economic concerns around food system planning.
Anna Lappe of Small Planet Institute, White House Pastry chef Bill Yosses and Lindsey Lusher Shute of the rapidly growing National Young Farmers’ Coalition, among many others, will join in on the discussion about sustaining a healthy food system. The event will take place in New York City but will be streamed live on the worldwide web for all to see.
Heritage Radio Network, an all-things-food internet radio station, has been previewing the TEDxManhattan event. Interviews with the event’s featured speakers -- Stonyfield Farm chairman Gary Hirshberg, Maisie Greenawalt of Bon Appetit Management Co. and Steve Wing, professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina -- can be listened to online.
“Changing the Way We Eat” will start at 10:30 a.m. EST with three sessions, themed “inform,” “educate” and “empower,” scheduled to take place throughout the day-long event. Those on the West Coast interested in accessing the webcast or locating a viewing party can find additional information and event details at www.livestream.com/tedx.
