It’s happening: Strawberry Pop-Tart ice cream sandwiches at Carl’s Jr.
Carl’s Jr. is making breakfast-dessert hybrid magic Wednesday with the launch of its new Pop-Tart ice cream sandwiches. These aren’t just any Pop-Tarts; they’re the frosted strawberry variety.
If you just did a little happy dance and let out a squeal, you’re not the only one. The chain basically nailed what everyone wanted to do when they were little (OK, and now too) but didn’t because Mom crushed our Pop-Tart dreams by saying, “No.”
“The idea of it just seemed to capture people’s imaginations,” Brad Haley, chief marketing officer of Carl’s Jr., said in a news release. “It’s one of those things that just brings a smile to everyone’s face when they hear about it, if not a downright swoon in some cases.”
The fast-food chain began testing the sandwiches in Orange County in April, and news of the sandwich went viral. It even led late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to ask, “Is Carl’s Jr. reading my dream journal?”
The sandwiches will be made by hand in-house with a scoop of what Carl’s Jr. calls “premium” vanilla ice cream and two halves of a frosted strawberry Pop-Tart. The sandwiches are priced at $1.49.
If you want to try one for free, Carl’s Jr. is giving away one free Pop-Tart ice cream sandwich with the purchase of a super bacon cheeseburger combo for a limited time at participating locations.
