Outstanding in the Field 2013 tour; tickets on sale
Mobile supper club Outstanding in the Field just announced its 2013 farm-to-table tour lineup, and some of the events have already sold out. The big red-and-white bus tours the nation from coast to coast once a year to host dinners at a slew of stunning locations including ranches, sea caves, mountaintops and community gardens. This year’s North American tour has scheduled stops in Southern California in the early summer and late fall:
On June 6, Romeo Coleman of Coleman Family Farm -- a Santa Monica Farmers Market favorite -- will host an Outstanding in the Field supper at his farm in Carpinteria, along with guest chefs Rachel Main of Main Course California and Karl Holst of Birnam Wood Golf Club. Catherine Pepe and Thom Curry of the Temecula Olive Oil Co. will also be hosting an early summer soiree on June 8 with guest chef Paul Arias of the Fishery.
After touring the East Coast, Outstanding in the Field will make its way back to California, where the 2013 tour will come to a close. On Nov. 5, Wattles Farm master gardener Toby Leaman will once again be hosting an Outstanding dinner at the community farm in Hollywood, with guest chefs to be announced shortly, and on Nov. 8, Charlie Parker of Freddy Smalls will guest chef a supper in a sea cove on Catalina Island, where John King, captain of the Afishionado, will be on hand to share Catalina fishing stories.
Tickets start at $200 per person and include a reception with wine and passed appetizers, a tour of the location setting and dinner. Outstandinginthefield.com.
