FoodCorps’ California service sites announced
Earlier this month we reported that FoodCorps, a national organization that addresses childhood obesity and access to nutritious food (or lack thereof), announced plans to expand its program and bring its nutrition education and school garden program to California in 2013.
FoodCorps California, which will be managed by co-hosts Life Lab and the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, also known as CAFF, has just announced the roster for this year’s selection of service sites. Ten organizations throughout California, including school districts, nonprofits and universities, have been selected to host 12 service members. Southern California picks include the Ventura Unified School District, Garden School Foundation in L.A. and the San Diego School District. Other sites will be based in Humboldt, Oakland, Santa Cruz and more.
The 2013-2014 service member application deadline is March 24. www.foodcorps.org.
