Tickets for panels and conversations at the L.A. Times Festival of Books are now available online. The tickets became available Sunday; some events have already sold out.
The Festival of Books takes place April 20-21, this coming Saturday and Sunday, on the campus of USC. Tickets are available to see Margaret Atwood in conversation with Michael Silverblatt, host of the radio show “Bookworm,” Jamaica Kincaid in conversation with The Times’ Hector Tobar, Molly Ringwald and Maria Semple being interviewed together by me, Carol Burnett in conversation with The Times’ Mary McNamara, and John Scalzi in conversation with Richard Kadrey.
Many, many panels will be taking place over the weekend, for which tickets are available. This is a quick sampling.
“Pictures on the Page: The Art of Children’s Books.” With award-winning British author-illustrator Emily Gravett, “Not a Box” author-illustrator Antoinette Portis, and McSweeney’s art director and editor Brian McMullen, moderated by Lee Wind.
“Fiction From the 22nd Century.” With Internet sensation and author of “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Book Store” Robin Sloan; Lydia Netzer, whose “Shine Shine Shine” is a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize in fiction; video game designer and novelist Austin Grossman, author of “Soon I Will Be Invincible”; and Scott Hutchins, author of “A Working Theory of Love,” moderated by Scott Timberg.
“History: Fight the Power.” With Matt Garcia, author of “From the Jaws of Victory: The Triumph and Tragedy of Cesar Chavez and the Farm Worker Movement”; Seth Rosenfeld, author of “Subversives: The FBI’s War on Student Radicals, and Reagan’s Rise to Power”’ and Joshua Boom, co-author of “Black Against Empire: The History and Politics of the Black Panther Party,” moderated by Miriam Powell.
Tickets are free, with a processing fee of $1 each.
