Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly plans on “Killing Jesus.”

That will be his next book. O’Reilly has topped bestseller lists with two prior histories, “Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot,” and “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever.” Because his television talk show keeps him busy, O’Reilly has a coauthor, Martin Dugard, who will continue to work with him on “Killing Jesus.”

Although the books are incredibly popular, there is something disturbing about a series of histories based around the violent death of major figures. Maybe it’s the form of speech -- the “killing” in the titles is a present participle, carrying with it a sense of being in the moment.

After “Killing Kennedy,” “Killing Lincoln” and “Killing Jesus,” what can we expect from O’Reilly? At some point, he may run out of political and historical figures -- when that happens, he’s welcome to choose from this possible list of killer book titles.
