Sophia Bush, Laura Dern, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Foxx take in annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Wearing a large sunhat, Tracee Ellis Ross jokingly invited others to join her under its brim as the “black-ish” star watched the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic match from a table beside a white-picket fence separating spectators from the field.
Another guest, Cat Deeley, chatted with the deejay inside the tent who was there to spin tunes for the VIPs, while others settled themselves right into comfy seating clusters.
The event
The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, which appeared to be the place to be Saturday for the young Hollywood set, pitted Team Veuve Clicquot, led by world-renowned Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras, against Team Will Rogers at the Will Rogers State Historic Park in the Pacific Palisades.

Among the famous faces that turned up for the tony event — the women in snazzy sunny-day ensembles and the men looking elegant as well — were
The scene
More than a few guests came early to sip Champagne, sample salads from the twin buffets or simply enjoy the gathering before the start of the match. Many lingered after Team Veuve Clicquot declared victory, standing beside the fence as Figueras rode by on a horse to shake hands with all those offering congratulations.
The quotes
“I’m a massive fan of horses,” Deeley said. “When I moved to Los Angeles, I had a horse that I loved, loved, loved, loved. His name was Romeo, and he was the man in my life. … For me, this is a real treat. I love seeing the horses. I love seeing the riders. I even love the smell.”
“This is my first time here,” McPhee said. “I have friends who come every year and say it’s their favorite event. … I’m also a fan of Champagne and a big fan of sports. So I’m interested in this whole experience.”
The numbers
More than 6,000 spectators enjoyed the afternoon with a portion of ticket sales going toward the preservation of the historic park, where polo matches between Rogers and Walt Disney as well as Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Tyrone Power, David Niven and Douglas Fairbanks have said to been played.
