Do you remember designer Tracy Feith, the Texas-born, surf-luxe designer who dressed First Lady Michelle Obama, had a short-lived store on Melrose Place and landed a prints-heavy Target collaboration in 2009?

He’s back on the fashion scene with a new boho-beach collection named Warm, which debuted Wednesday afternoon during a presentation at New York Fashion Week.

Warm’s breezy, Indian-inspired sundresses, floral print peasant dresses, jacquard kimono gowns, linen skirts and high-waist denim, priced from $500 to $1,500, offer a new twist on vintage wardrobe mainstays. The collection would look equally at home at the Hollywood Farmers Market and a sunset soiree in Montauk, styled with Adidas slides for daytime and heels at night.

“It’s easy, earthy chic,” says Feith, who moved to Los Angeles from New York City four years ago to take a job as the creative director of Toms Shoes and plans to design Warm from his home base in Beachwood Canyon. “The whole world wants to be California, and I want to stay there. The lifestyle suits and inspires me.”

Feith teamed up with his friend and former employee Winnie Beattie, the founder of the indie New York boutique Warm and the PR firm Siren, to launch the collection, which will be sold at specialty stores starting in spring 2016.

“The clothes are meant to get messy. We say it’s inspired by the Marais-meets-Santa Cruz,” says Beattie, who like Feith is a surfer, pointing to one of her favorite pieces, a market dress striped in colors taken from a Coppertone suntan lotion bottle. “The French California thing is where it’s at.”
