Actress Sandra Bullock is the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman,” People decreed on Wednesday morning. The magazine called her “real, radiant.” Bullock, 50 and the mother of a 5-year-old, sounded real in a quote from the magazine: “Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it’s just so hard not to say, ‘Oh, I need to look like that. No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren’t trying.” [People]

She also said she thought the decision to name her “most beautiful” was “ridiculous.” [Los Angeles Times]

Designers Zac Posen and Christian Siriano and mother/daughter models Pat and Anna Cleveland joined in Los Angeles Monday for a panel discussion about the fashion business. Pat Cleveland compared the fashion business to her pet peacocks: “At my house you’ll see one put up this big blue fan [of feathers] but if you look around behind him, you’ll see there’s a whole lot going on back there to make it look that way.” [Los Angeles Times]
