N.Y. Fashion Week: Vera Wang gets buggy with it
“You Bug Me.” That’s was the phrase emblazoned across the front of a sweater in Vera Wang’s moody fall 2014 collection. It was definitely one of my favorite statement sweaters in a season of many.
Wang’s collection is always darkly romantic, but this season it also had some humor, which was refreshing to see from the designer.
She hit on a lot of the season’s trends, with enveloping wool cloaks and coats, and chunky knits worn over cropped full-legged pants or floaty chiffon blouses, dresses and drawstring pants. The palette was charcoal and black with a few tartans and blurred florals mixed in.
And the jewelry was extraordinary -- long fringed chain and crystal necklaces with tangled insects that sparkled like spiderwebs on the clothing, and oversized beetle brooches.
In the OMG category was a black web lace dress that would kill it on the red carpet.
