Henry Cavill: The ‘Man of Steel’ proves to be a man of style
While the “Man of Steel” made a superior show of strength at the box office over the weekend, Henry Cavill, the man who dons the cape for the latest Superman film has already proved himself a fashion plate, turning out for the film’s various worldwide premieres and events looking super sharp.
The most recent example was at the Taormina Filmfest in Taormina, Italy, on Saturday, to which he wore a gray, two-button, peak lapel, made-to-measure three-piece suit, white dress shirt and print tie by Ermenegildo Zegna. A few days earlier, Cavill was cutting a dashing figure in Tom Ford for the movie’s European premiere in London, wearing a navy blue Prince of Wales three-piece suit, white dress shirt and navy blue necktie.
Cavill also chose Tom Ford for the world premiere of “Man of Steel” in New York City on June 10, wearing a charcoal gray, peak lapel, two-piece suit, white dress shirt, black knit necktie and white pocket square.
Cavill is turning out to be such a hot property for menswear labels that we’re even getting press releases about what the actor is wearing as he gets ready to take flight -- the old-fashioned way -- departing New York for a press tour wardrobed in a weathered khaki linen rollup shirt from the spring-summer 2013 Tommy Hilfiger tailored collection.
It will be interesting to see if the super high profile translates into super sales at the cash register.
