VMAs dissing big butts? Nicki Minaj thinks so ... and she blames Taylor Swift
Nicki Minaj racked up MTV VMA Award nominations for Best Female Video and Best Hip Hop Video for “Anaconda” on Tuesday.
But she was disappointed not to get a nod in the Best Video of the Year category. So she let loose a string of tweets blaming it, apparently, on body shape.
“Anaconda,” of course, is a celebration of ample booty, and so her conclusion was: “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
Taylor Swift, whose “Bad Blood” is in the running for Video of the Year, took offense and responded: “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot...” Or maybe it was Beyoncé, the other woman in the field of five.
Speaking of Swift, news broke Tuesday that she is teaming with JD.com on a fashion line aimed at Chinese consumers.
Levi’s announced plans to expand its clothing and shoes recycling program to all of its stores and outlets in the U.S. Customers who do so — clean, dry items only — will receive discounts on new merchandise and help reduce the amount of clothing waste that goes into landfills.
