When it’s as hot as it was on the Emmys red carpet, hair stylists are apparently inclined to go with the flow.

Several celebrities hit the carpet with their hair all slicked back from the hairline, and with the first two inches of their tresses looking drenched and shiny.

Sarah Paulson, Taryn Manning, Dascha Polanco and Jaime Alexander all wore their hair down and slick, blending the inevitable perspiration that gathered along some foreheads with the pomade and molding products that coated their strands.

“Sachajuan Finishing Creme and Elnette hairspray keep hair in place, while looking sleek and polished,” says celebrity hair stylist Chris Bragg, co-owner of the Goddard + Bragg salon, about how to get this slick, wet look.

The wet look isn’t new with celebrities trying to rock a sleek, sexy hairdo. But until now, it has mainly been relegated to music videos and magazine covers.

Given the high heat, it was a smart move on the part of the hair stylists and created an interesting and edgy contrast to billowy ball gowns.

But be wary if you try the look at home. In some cases it looked a little helmet-head and highlighted the heat-induced shine on many actresses’ faces and shoulders.
